What is Pastoril? - O Que é Pastoril?

  Is a folguedo from religious origin very popular in many states in the Brazilian northeast. Usually developsin front of a nativity scene or in dance tableaux in public square.
  The auto represents, through the music the trip of the shepherds from Belém, Where Jesus born. The shepherds presents in 2 cordons: The red, commanded by the master, and the blue, commanded by the contramaster. And, wearing the two colors, there’s the Diana.
 The colors red and blue, used in the auto, represent the dispute between Christians and Moors, making a reference to the fights in the Iberian Peninsula.

      O Pastoril é um folguedo de origem religiosa muito popular em vários estados do nordeste brasileiro.Geralmente se desenvolve em frente á um presérpioou em tablados em praça pública.
      O auto conta, por meio da música a viagem das pastoras a Belém, onde nasceu Jesus. As pastoras se apresentam em duas fileiras chamadas cordões: o encarnado liderado pela mestra e o azul comandado pela contramestra, entre os dois cordões, vestindo as duas cores encontra-se a Diana.
                As cores vermelho e azul utilizadas no auto representam a disputa entre cristãos e mouros, fazendo uma referência às lutas travadas na Península Ibérica.
